Radius is our community partnerships programme. We work closely with a number of local primary schools and charitable organisations, with a focus on improving and enriching the lives of primary-school aged children.
Through Radius we identify and support community-based endeavours that align with NHP’s core values. With the support of the Parents’ Association, the Foundation aims to harness the collective resources of our school community to provide both financial assistance and service, including the sharing of resources.
We believe all pupils mutually benefit from these partnerships, developing a motivation to help and an awareness of the needs of others from an early age; and that through striving to create a school environment that more closely represents the diversity of experience that abounds in our local area, we offer a richer and more meaningful educational experience for all students.
Since its launch in 2020, the NHP community have raised over £60,000 for Radius projects, in addition to a number of resource sharing partnerships. We are currently working in a number of partnerships with local primary schools and organisations including:
Avondale Park Primary Family Group
We are currently working in partnership with Avondale Park Primary School to part-fund The Family Group. This is a group therapy model delivered weekly with a therapist and school staff member working with 8 families (children and parents/carers) of children in Years 2 and 3. The sessions promote wellbeing and learning for those children struggling socially, emotionally, behaviourally or academically over an 18 month period. The sessions allow for parents to share and help one another in a non-judgmental environment as well as form a strong support network between group members. The cost of this successful programme is £23,000, of which the NHP Foundation Radius fund is contributing £13,000 this academic year.
The Notting Hill Children's Community Choir
A weekly community choir based on fun, not ability, which we launched in early November 2021 for eight participating local primary schools, including NHP. Up to 48 children meet each week at the Notting Hill Methodist Church to have fun, sing together and enjoy working with other schools. We are currently working with Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Primary, Oxford Gardens Primary, Colville Primary, St Mary's Primary, Thomas Jones Primary, Avondale Park Primary and St Charles Primary.
Do you have an idea or project in mind which could be suitable for Radius?
If so, we would love to hear from you. Please contact Imogen Galsworthy, Head of School Development, at imogeng@nottinghillprep.com.
"We are delighted to get this fantastic support from the parents and pupils at Notting Hill Prep. The funds raised will go directly to giving local children, who've been affected by Grenfell, a summer to remember. This includes opportunities for arts, drama, sport and day trips, to help build children's confidence, learning and social skills. Thank you to everyone at Notting Hill Prep for making this possible." Carol Ann Scott, Project Manager at RISE Kids
"When Avondale Park Primary School closed during Covid, it was devastating for the families who rely heavily on the school, especially for clubs such as breakfast club and after school club. Avondale Extra then received the eye-watering amount of £22,932.89 from NHP, the largest donation in the charity's history. It was quite honestly an extraordinary sum for a small local charity like ours. We were amazed and thrilled. We look forward to stimulating the children's brains with new experiences using NHPs funds. Thank you so much for your kindness." Cassie Goldman, Chair of Avondale Extra (AX) for Avondale Park Primary
